1. Collect and evaluate data obtained by history, physical examination, laboratory and X-rays, which are pertinent to diseases of the kidney and of fluid and electrolyte disorders in order to make a diagnosis and evaluate plans of therapy.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory and radiologic tests indicated in various clinical situations which will provide maximum information at maximum cost effectiveness. This would include the limitations of such tests both as screening and diagnostic determination.
3. Identify the etiologies and treatments of hypertension in children and young adults.
4. Discuss general approaches to therapy of such pediatric renal diseases as acute kidney injury, nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, obstructive uropathy, vesicoureteral reflux, and urinary tract infection.
6. Assess the status of patients with chronic kidney disease and with renal transplants with respect to bone disease, acidosis, calcium-phosphorus balance, nutrition and transplant rejection; and describe the therapy of hypertension in this patient population.
7. Demonstrate knowledge of the screening and preventive measures pertinent to childhood urinary tract disease which should be employed in the primary care setting.
