Overall Course Objectives:
1. Demonstrate understanding of the hazards and the discomfort, if any, of commonly performed radiologic and ultrasound examinations
2. Recognize and discuss differential diagnosis of commonly encountered pediatric diseases demonstrable by radiologic or ultrasound examinations, and to discuss their clinical findings and treatment.
3. Display familiarity with the common indications for requesting radiologic examination of the skull, the chest, the abdomen, and the extremities, and for standard examinations using contrast media, specifically the excretory urogram, the barium enema, and the upper gastrointestinal examination, as well as CT, ultrasound, radioisotope, and MR imaging.
Intermediate Objectives:
1. Discuss the indications and contraindications of commonly used x-ray diagnostic procedures.
2. Discuss the principles of diagnostic ultrasound, including its common uses and limitations.
