1. Assume shared responsibility in the clinical management of the severely disturbed adolescent patient.
2. Gain greater sophistication and skill in the diagnosis of adolescents with multiple psychiatric disorders.
3. Develop skills in clinical decision making that result in cost-efficient, effective care.
4. Understand risk/benefit issues around medication and appropriately communicate these to families.
5. Identify & explain which medical and clinical interventions will help as preventative measures.
6. Identify and explain nutritional issues associated with eating disorders.
7. Identify ethical issues associated with care of a child, e.g., custody, abuse, use of ECT, confidentiality, use of seclusion and restraint.
8. Make contact with outside therapists and collaborate on treatment plan and conceptualization of current dynamics.
9. Select appropriate psychopharmacologic interventions for major psychiatric diagnoses.
10. Improve knowledge of importance in maintaining active communication with pediatric teams.
