1) New patients or admissions will be assigned in the morning with redistribution as is necessary. Students may also attend the outpatient clinic for continued follow-up of their patients once discharged.
2) There are three separate inpatient services: Hematology, Onc-Leukemia/Lymphoma, Onc-Solid Tumor. All Hematology and Oncology teams begin rounds at 08:30. Students are encouraged to join the attending/fellow in the afternoon to see their primary patients, and they are welcome to visit other patients as time and interest allow. Sign-out rounds are at 4-5 p.m. each day.
3) The ward attending may review bone marrow studies, tissue biopsies, and imaging studies as applicable to the patients on the ward. Students are welcome to join so that they can gather information on their patients firsthand.
4) Students will participate in the didactic morning lecture series with the Heme-Onc resident team. Students are also encouraged to attend the multidisciplinary tumor boards, particularly when their primary patients will be discussed.
