1. Recognize the broad categories of pediatric rheumatologic diseases including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, autoimmune connective tissue diseases, vasculitides and systemic autoinflammatory diseases
2. Classify a patient presentation into one of the broad rheumatologic disease categories
3. Perform a detailed history and physical exam relevant to patients suspected of having childhood/adolescent rheumatic disease
4. Differentiate arthralgia from arthritis
5. Differentiate benign self-limited joint pains from potentially serious ones
6. Apply the diagnostic criteria for common pediatric rheumatologic conditions including juvenile idiopathic arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus
7. Formulate a differential diagnosis and work-up plan for a child with a limp
8. Understand the indication and interpretation of commonly ordered rheumatologic laboratory tests including but not limited to inflammatory markers, antinuclear antibody (ANA), rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)
9. Recognize the presentation and expected clinical course of rheumatologic conditions that commonly present acutely in childhood including IgA vasculitis and transient synovitis
10. Describe the mechanism of action, indications and side effects of the most common medications used in pediatric rheumatology (including but not limited to NSAIDs, steroids, methotrexate)
